It’s the time for Personal Growth

It is only just this week that I have felt motivated and energetic enough to write down my 2021 ambitions and desires. I was nervous, (along with everyone else on the planet), hoping that our American neighbours transitioned into their democracy peacefully. Now that the pomp and circumstance around the inauguration are over (thankfully, it all happened without any further violence), I sense in myself a desire to start thinking about this year, and particularly about what I want to realize for myself and my business.

Personal Growth

Many people ask me if my coaching modality, Rewire Your Mind™, can be helpful for anyone feeling trapped, stuck, or dissatisfied in their professional life. My response is always a reminder that we show up the same in all of our relationships and all situations, and if our thinking is limiting one area of our life it is limiting the other areas too. What is also worth mentioning is that we cannot expect any part of our lives to grow beyond our basic emotional state. Meaning that our primary emotions are invisible walls that we must scale to get to our dreams. This all means that to become a better person (personal or professional), we must identify the thoughts and behaviours that are holding us back and actively work towards letting them go.

Personal growth is about uncovering the unconscious patterns that keep repeating themselves and then bringing them up to consciousness so that they can be modified and changed. It’s about going through a detailed and in-depth process of seeing ourselves clearly without pretension. More specifically, it is about seeing patterns in behaviour and habits so that what is hurting us can be separated from what is helping us.

We Are The Same Everywhere

Since our careers are always a reflection of us, the issues we haven’t worked through in our personal life tend to show up in our business life and vise versa. Until we make this connection, assume responsibility for the work we need to do, and change the way we show up in those situations, the same issues will recur. This means we will continue to limit the potential of ourselves and our businesses. Personal growth takes courage and a willingness to look at ourselves with deep honesty. We have to accept that our behaviours and attitudes, regardless of how strongly associated we are with them, may no longer be working for us, and they may be blocking us from the experiences that we so desire.

Round and Round We Go

Having an unconscious pattern running our lives is like driving on a roundabout and not being able to take the exit – so round and round we go. We know we have seen the scenery before, yet we convince ourselves that maybe this time we will be able to take the exit, only to be disappointed yet again. The good news is that when we master what was once unconscious behaviour or attitudes, instead of going around in circles, we develop the ability to make new choices and direct our life and business in new and exciting directions. That’s when we can finally take the exit and get off the roundabout for good.

New Year Growth

Why not make 2021 the year that you adopt the tools available for personal growth and uncover, once and for all, what is holding you back. This journey will give you the seeds that you need to plant your garden of possibility and potential. Instead of using your precious energy to deal with unresolved emotional issues and baggage (and keep driving on the roundabout and never getting off), use your energy to build the life of your dreams while making a difference in the world. If you are ready to dream bigger and think more expansive thoughts, and live from joy, both in work and play, request a complimentary consultation through my website; itcanbedifferent.ca. My proprietary coaching model, Rewire Your Mind™ is certified to break down unconscious thinking, emotions, and habits while creating openings for you to install supportive, powerful, and self-directed alternatives.

Let’s start 2021 nowcoa

I am so excited to be featured on Close Up Radio with Jim Masters this Tuesday May 5th at 1 p.m EST. I hope you will join us!

With all the incredible challenges and pressures we face both personally and professionally, life can be extremely tough. No wonder we can may become anxious, stressed, and lose our way. The fact is every single one of us can use guidance and mentoring but many of us don’t realize how we are unwittingly stuck in our own limiting beliefs that actually prevent us from attaining our goals and life dreams. That’s why an excellent life coach is necessary. Not someone telling us what to do, but someone who can objectively help us navigate our lives, give us a more positive outlook, and motivate us to live up to our fullest potential.

Karen is an exceptional Life Coach and Founder/CEO of It Can Be Different, a Life coaching practice.

“My coaching work is centered on helping intellectual, driven, passionate adults going through tough times struggling with anxiety, stress, or feeling totally overwhelmed,” says Karen. “I assist my clients to gain perspective, become self-aware, refocus their thinking, and develop clear strategies in all aspect of their lives. When they are able to identify core values instead of being fixated on their problems they can break through those blocks, discover different pathways, and find appropriate joyful solutions.”

Prior to starting her coaching practice, Karen worked in corporate for over 25 years. For most of her adult life, she battled stress and anxiety which negatively impacted her career and family life. Over time as her stress increased, she took the advice of her doctors and went on anti-depressants. After several years of being on different meds she realized she craved natural healing. Yoga and meditation helped a great deal but it was after working with a life coach that not only did she find clarity, healing, and authentic joy, but that her purpose and mission was to become a Life coach so others can reorganize their lives, find balance, and achieve their dreams.

“I can truly relate to my clients because I have been lost muddling my way through life thinking it was normal just as they have,” says Karen. “It’s critical for people to understand that living in a constant state of stress is not something we should accept as normal. We must innovate life strategies, embrace self-discovery, and realize that if we change negative life patterns we can move forward confidently and regain that spark for life.”

Karen says when we take the first decisive step to help ourselves we are also assisting future generations. As we shift with positivity and new insight, our vibration changes and transcends so we reach multi generations beyond our life time, yet another reason why coaching is absolutely pivotal.

“Part of my philosophy is to help encourage people to understand how our unhappiness is rooted in the fact that we don’t feel we have any control over our own lives when we absolutely do,” says Karen. “Our joy should not be only in our future goals like anticipating true love or waiting for that promotion to happen, but in living mindfully, so we can be happy in the moment right here and right now.”

According to Karen, we are all meant to be in a natural state of joy, abundance, and love and when we are surrounded by negativity it is a clear indication we are not on our true path.

“Even though we deal with everyday life issues and challenges it’s critical for people to know we are not broken,” says Karen. “There is a simple and easy way to not get sidetracked but rather improve our lives, accomplish what we want, and we deserve to do this for not only our own well- being but for the good of the entire world.”

Close Up Radio will feature Karen Spencer in an interview with Jim Masters on Tuesday May 5th at 1 p.m. EST

Therapy or NLP Life Coaching?

Often, I get asked what NLP life coaching is and how is it different from therapy. I thought it would be a good idea to start off the new year answering this question.

What is NLP Coaching?

NLP coaching is founded on the principle that excellence in communication can be achieved by anyone. It delivers this excellence through a set of modern techniques that build powerful and transformation results. NLP coaching focuses on the communication between individuals, groups and self. The communication with self, which determine our core beliefs, self-talk, and ultimately how we feel, is the primary focus of my particular coaching practiceEssentially, NLP coaching allows for quick and powerful changes in beliefs and emotional states that no longer serve the person. These changes lead to more motivation, less stress and worry, improved mood and more clarity around what needs to be done.

NLP life coaching is directed toward the client living a life focused on what is important to them. It enables the client to first take stock and get clarity. It also allows them to take responsibility for their life and regain control as well as achieve goals and set balance. NLP life coaching addresses issues such as: Why am I feeling like this? How can I change how I feel? What do I want reallyHow do I resolve this particular issue? How do I sort out my confusing and stressful life?

What is Therapy?

Therapyalso called counseling, is long-term model of treatment for mental or psychological problems using psychological means. The most common approaches are behavioural therapy which focuses on learnings that change behaviour and cognitive therapy which deals with what people think rather than what they do.

As easily seen, both NLP coaching and therapy aim to help the client feel and behave better and be more in line with their overall desired life goals. The distinction between the two modalities can be more easily seen when we look at how the two practices approach their work.

TRADITIONAL THERAPY

NLP LIFE COACHING

  • Works with a patient
  • Clinical model
  • Patient gets “fixed”.
  • Works with a client.
  • Client learns new behaviours that they use now and in the future.
  • Diagnoses mental illnesses.
  • Assumes client is healthy and can achieve wholeness easily and effectively.
  • Doctor/patient or Therapist/patient relationship
  • Partnership of equals that is focused on creating solutions for the client.
  • Teaching focuses exclusively on the conscious mind.
  • Teaching uses both conscious and unconscious mind.
  • Works with patient’s past and traumatic events.
  • Focus on talking about old pain to release it.
  • Works with client’s present.
  • Seeks to release obstacles of the past any blocks to desired future can be removed.

Whether you look at an NLP life coach or a therapist’s practice, it is important to appreciate that both approaches have a goal to understand behaviours, emotions and patterns so that meaningful change can be achieved. Both approaches share certain traits and aims. However, it is the approach that is vastly different.
